WMS Families,

Hello.  I hope you are having a great summer.  The building is looking good and we are more than ready for your child to come to school on Wednesday, August 16th.

I just want to remind you that the middle school years are critical times of development for students and families and I look forward to working with all of you to make this school year successful.   This is a time for kids to explore and figure out who they are and what they stand for.  They will struggle with a number of things and make mistakes, but that is just fine.  We are here for them and will do our very best to help them grow both academically and personally.

I look forward to meeting each of you during our schedule pick up dates.  The incoming 6th graders will be able to pick up their schedule on Tuesday, August 1st from 7:30 am-4:30 pm.  It is during this time that the students will be able to pick up their schedule, purchase WMS spirit wear, have school pictures taken, set up their lockers and explore the school.  The 7th/8th grade schedule pick up date is set for Wednesday, August 2nd from 7:30 am-4:30 pm.  Additionally, we have a late orientation/schedule pick up date set for Monday, August 7th from 1:00 pm-7:00 pm.

A few other important dates are:

August 11th-6th Grade BBQ from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm

August 16th-First Day of School

August 29th-6th Grade Open House –6:30 pm

August 31st-7th/8th Grade Open House-6:30 pm

Congratulations to Mrs. Denise Daniels and four of her students for placing 2nd in the Missouri Stock Market Game for the 2016-2017 spring semester.
Caitlin Ziff, LeAna Seldon, Lyla Dempsey and Allison Brumfield were on the team that placed 2nd out of 165 teams in the St. Louis Region
division of the Missouri Stock Market Game that is offered through UMKC. Teams are given $100,000 in fake money to invest, they are then allowed to work on their investments during spare time in class. Thanks to Mrs. Daniels for allowing the students this great opportunity to expose her students to how the stock market works and how to invest.

THANK YOU O'FALLON LOWES

WMS gives a big shout out to O'Fallon Lowes for their generous donation of 64
2x4's for the summer library project (pushing the fiction books forward on the shelves). This project will have a big impact in the WMS library. First, books will not become lost behind other books on the shelves and the books on the lower shelves will become more visible, which in turn will encourage the checking out of great literature that has been difficult to see.

!!!THANK YOU O'FALLON LOWES!!!
