Kids Under Twenty One (KUTO) is dedicated to providing youth-focused programming throughout the greater St. Louis area. Their crisis prevention, suicide intervention and postvention support services include community awareness, outreach and education; a youth-staffed telephone hotline; Peer Helper Skills Training; and support for survivors of a completed suicide.
The community awareness involves presentations to our 6th grade students, as well as refresher groups with our 7th and 8th grade students. The presentations serve to educate our students regarding the risk factors and warning signs of depression and suicide, and what steps to take if they or a friend are feeling depressed and/or suicidal, in order to get the needed help. These presentations will take place on September 19th through September 21st, during elective classes.
