Fort Zumwalt West Middle School opened it's doors September 4, 2001 to new faces and new teachers. Over 650 students were enrolled that year in sixth and seventh grade with 90 faculty and staff members ready for the new beginning. At the end of the first year, students were quoted in the yearbook saying, "since everyone was new to the school, we all felt the same going into the unknown. We held our heads high, supported one another and made it a triumphant year."  It's this mindset that made the first year at West Middle successful. Through all the growth West Middle has seen over the years, many building expansions, student population growth and faculty numbers expanding, West Middle has continued to hold onto that early mindset and continues to hold our heads high and support each other. It's what makes West the Best!
